Athlete Testimonials

Training with Calvin was one of the biggest blessings for my athletic career. Calvin is super intentional with everything he does. He's always reading and trying to learn more about how he can perfect his craft as not only a coach but as a person too. With Calvin's programming I became more explosive, stronger and faster in all of my movements for my sport. I expressed to Calvin that I wanted to get better at Olympic lifts as well as get stronger for softball. Without hesitation, Calvin started incorporating Olympic lift training into my training. Calvin is great at explaining the why factor as well. Before going over any new movements he would always explain why the exercise was going to make me better. Calvin's insight and knowledge about training is unmatched. Apart from training, Calvin taught me that nothing is deserved but earned in life. Calvin has a great perspective and mentality about life that he is willing to share with anyone between sets. Thanks to Calvin, I've hit new PRs while gaining a new mindset and outlook on life at the same time. Calvin's passion for what he does is contagious. You'll never meet anyone in life as driven as Calvin.

Calvin has been such a blessing over the past few years in several aspects. He has helped me with my athleticism and health by getting me to reach numbers I've never touched and working through old injuries, and he has become a mentor and a friend through it all. He was the one to influence me to get into strength and conditioning and has answered every question with love and teaching. His wealth of knowledge is unrivaled and he attacks every day with enthusiasm and encouragement. He has gone from being just a trainer to being a friend and mentor and is the best trainer anyone can ask for.

Working with Calvin has transformed me both as a runner and an individual. Calvin helped me drop my 400m PR from 50.46 down to 48.74 in ten months. More importantly though, Calvin helped me understand the “why” behind my training. By explaining the purpose behind each workout, I understood the importance of each exercise and how it will benefit me. His explanations also strengthened my trust in him, making it easier to stay motivated during difficult workouts because I understood the benefits behind them. As an athlete, it can be difficult to trust a trainer without confidence in their expertise, but Calvin was different. I fully trusted him and had confidence that he knew what was best for my development. Finally, Calvin helped me grow as an individual. In leading by example, he showed me the importance of treating everyone with kindness and the value of hard work.

My experience training with Calvin has been one of the best things I've ever done and it has benefitted me in more ways than I could've ever imagined. I started training with Calvin the spring of my junior year. By fall soccer season of my senior year, I had already seen huge improvements in my strength and speed on the field. Calvin did an amazing job making sure that my time in the gym didn't take away from my sport — I was never too fatigued or too sore in any game because of my workouts. My increase in speed, strength, and overall performance was a key factor in getting me to the level I am playing at in college, and this wouldn't have been possible if I didn't train with Calvin. The time and effort Calvin puts into creating every individual's workouts is insane. If he is not training someone, he is reading or working on new programs. He has taught me not only the right way to train, but the why. Even after moving to Texas, he created an online spreadsheet for my workouts so there was still a way to train. I have become a more confident and powerful athlete, and his workouts push me to get better each and every day.

Words cannot fully express the impact Calvin has had on not only my athletic journey, but my life as a whole. I have never met someone who is more dedicated and passionate about their job. Even when his “work hours” are over, Calvin is reading or researching at home on new ways to improve the training experience for every athlete he works with. While Calvin has helped me become a stronger, faster, and more powerful athlete, what I value most are the life lessons he has taught me along the way. He has instilled in me the importance of hard work, discipline, accountability, refusing to make excuses, don't be soft, and EAT! I am incredibly grateful for the time I've spent learning and growing under Calvin's guidance. Because of him, I am not only a better athlete, but a better person. He has prepared me to adapt and confidently face whatever life throws my way. The impact he has had on me will last far beyond sports, and for that I will always be thankful.

Having the privilege of training with Calvin for the better part of a year helped me become not only a well-accomplished athlete, but a better person. Through our training sessions, he pushed me beyond limits I thought weren't possible for myself, all while teaching me the right way to train. His passion and dedication to the profession are rarely seen, and the hunger he brings is something found in only a select few. The energy he brings to each session is electric — he makes the athlete want to work, no matter the group size or the time of day. Beyond his boundless energy and charismatic character as a trainer, he helped me look inward at the person I was and taught me life lessons I will carry for the rest of my life. He helped me become a faster, stronger, more powerful athlete, but above all else, a better person. I am beyond grateful for the work Calvin put into my training and programming.

I can't recommend Calvin enough. He trained me from my freshman year through some of the most important years of my athletic development, and I can honestly say I wouldn't be the athlete I am today without his guidance. We spent countless hours doing speed work at my high school's track, the University of Idaho track, and the Valley Play Fields at WSU. Every workout had a purpose, and Calvin always pushed me to be faster, more explosive, and most importantly a better person. What stood out most was how invested he was in my progress. He believed in me, held me accountable, and always expected my best effort. Because of his coaching, I've become not only a quicker and stronger athlete but also a more confident and mentally tough competitor. If you're looking for a trainer who genuinely cares about your success, Calvin is the person I'd recommend every time.

When it comes to developing speed, strength, and mobility, Calvin gets it. He's great to work with, is incredibly thoughtful in his approach, and gets real results. He was a massive help to our son in his inaugural year of HS track — helped him qualify for the state meet as a freshman. Highly recommended. Five stars.

When I first started training with Calvin, I had a lingering ankle injury and lost a lot of my athleticism in a couple weeks. He got my ankle to no pain, then over the summer we trained and he got my vertical and my athleticism back up to nearly 100% and above in the weight room. He is one of the best coaches I've ever had. He always wanted to be better and he always pushed you to be better. He also made me a better person and helped me with struggles outside the weight room. He's one of the most supportive people I know, and training with him is one of the best decisions I've ever made — I wouldn't be where I'm at today without him in my life.

All 3 of my kids have trained with Calvin, ages 12 to 19. Calvin has always tailored the workout to not only their sport, but also whether they are in season or off-season. The attention to detail that he provides is like no other. His biggest priority for my 12-year-old was to teach him to lift the right way — it was all about his form and teaching the “why.” He has been a great influence on my kids, being a mentor to them and helping build many of the intangibles athletes need to succeed. He works with them on the mental part of competing and battling through the tough days. Injury prevention has been a major point of influence, and Calvin changes his workouts based on how the athlete is feeling. I have never once watched a workout or asked what he is doing, as I have full trust in what he is working on. Calvin has always had our trust and has gone above and beyond for every athlete he trains.

Getting to know Calvin and being able to work with him the last couple years has been such a blessing. He has pushed me to not only get better in the weight room but also challenged me to become a better person. Calvin has helped me reach goals I never thought I could get to. He is very open to every and any question I have, whether it's gym related or even life advice. He has been an amazing coach, mentor, and friend. He always brings the energy to everything he does. Calvin is a once in a lifetime trainer and I am forever grateful to have him as a trainer.

Middle school → College. I have coached athletes who don't know how to squat or sprint, to athletes who are running under 11s in the 100 M and qualifying for the Olympic Trials.

What equipment do the programs need?

For the field work — nothing. I formatted the programs to meet needs that allow training to take place anywhere. Weight room: your weight room should have everything the program is asking for. If it doesn't, email me for a suggestion on how to change an exercise to meet your needs!
